Admission Process
Admission to a graduate program is more than just the sum of your grade
point average in your undergraduate major and your references. Each program
utilizes your comprehensive package of admission materials to determine
whether our programs are a good match for your qualifications and goals.
Although tests and grades are important, research interests, employment
history, and the statement of goals also are essential in the process
of deciding admission for the limited spaces available in many of our
programs. Our faculty members regularly meet to review applicants for
master's and doctoral programs. Final decisions are made based upon the
recommendation of that program's graduate faculty.
At the University of San Francisco, the Office of Graduate and Adult
Admissions and Regional Campus personel (if appropriate) are available
to assist you with the application process, but the individual departments
make all admission recommendations.
There are a number of ways for you to apply to USF. Our online
application is a web-based version of the traditional print application.
It is designed in modules to allow you to complete the required sections
at your own pace. When you have submitted your application, you will be
sent instructions on additional materials needed to complete your application.
A copy of the application can be mailed to you by completing the email
inquiry form or by contacting our office at (415) 422-GRAD or outside
California at (800) CALL-USF.
The Office of Graduate and Adult Admissions at the University of San
Francisco stands ready to help you with any questions you may have about
applying to graduate school. Send us e-mail at graduate@usfca.edu.
